Teacher of History
Commencing September 2026
We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of History to join our History Department which comprises ten specialists with diverse research interests. History is compulsory in Year 9, with a wide‑range curriculum shaped by teacher expertise. Pupils study Cambridge IGCSE History in Years 10‑11 and OCR A Level in Years 12‑13, with strong enrolment at both stages. Outcomes are outstanding, with consistently excellent GCSE and A Level results and a strong Oxbridge and Russell Group record.
Scholarship is enriched through trips, societies, visiting speakers, publications and partnerships, supported by excellent library resources and close collaboration within the Humanities Faculty.
- Teach GCSE and A level History, following the CIE IGCSE syllabus (0977) for GCSE and the OCR syllabus for A level, currently covering units on the Crusades, Pitt to Peel and US Civil Rights.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons, assess student progress, and support pupils to achieve outstanding results.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Humanities Faculty to enrich scholarship and promote student learning.
- Outstanding graduate or postgraduate, with or without a PGCE, seeking to enter teaching, or experienced teacher looking for a fresh challenge.
- Strong subject knowledge of History and ability to teach at GCSE and A level.
- Commitment to safeguarding, diversity and inclusion.
