The Role

As a KS3 SEN Teacher, you will be tasked with planning and delivering creative, structured and differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils.

You will shape learners across Key Stage 3 by developing confidence, independence and essential life skills alongside academic progress.

The successful KS3 SEN Teacher will:

Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with individual learning needs
Teach a broad and balanced curriculum adapted for pupils with SEND
Assess, monitor and record pupil progress effectively
Set ambitious expectations while recognising individual achievements
Develop positive relationships with pupils to enhance learning and well being
Implement effective behaviour management strategies
Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals
Communicate effectively with families and carers
Contribute positively to the wider life and development of the school

You will ideally have:

Essential:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching at Key Stage 3 level
Strong knowledge of SEND and inclusive teaching practices
Ability to adapt lessons to meet individual pupil needs
Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare

Desirable:

Experience working with pupils with autism, SEMH or complex learning needs
Knowledge of personalised learning approaches
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
Understanding of alternative accreditation pathways such as ASDAN, BTEC or Entry Level qualifications
Confidence using technology to support learning
