Are you an experienced Registered Nurse or Midwife ready to take the next step into clinical leadership within reproductive healthcare?

BPAS is looking for a Deputy Ward Manager to support the Clinical Nurse/Midwife Manager in delivering safe, effective and compassionate abortion and sexual health services.

This is a part‑time position for 30 hours per week, to be worked flexibly across Monday to Saturday at our Richmond Clinic.

You will combine hands‑on clinical care with leadership responsibilities, playing a key role in maintaining high professional standards, safe staffing levels and excellent patient experience throughout the service.

About You

You will be a Registered Nurse (Level
1) or Registered Midwife with proven experience working within a clinical environment, including experience in abortion and/or sexual health services. You will bring strong clinical assessment and decision‑making skills, alongside the confidence to support colleagues and act in charge of the unit when required.

You will demonstrate a professional, approachable and non‑judgmental manner, with a clear commitment to patient‑led care and a woman’s right to choose. You will be an effective team member while also feeling confident to take responsibility for leading the unit in the absence of the Clinical Nurse/Midwife Manager.

Main duties of the job
  • Support the Clinical Nurse/Midwife Manager in the line management and supervision of nursing and midwifery staff

Assist in ensuring all staff are appropriately qualified and competent

Contribute to effective workforce planning and safe staffing levels

Support the implementation of BPAS policies and ensure CQC standards are maintained

Provide abortion and sexual health information, assessment and treatment in a supportive and non‑judgmental manner

Undertake point‑of‑care testing, including pregnancy testing and venepuncture
