Risk, Insurance & Compliance Officer

Brief role description:

We are looking for a Risk, Insurance and Compliance Officer to join our Legal and Governance team and play an important role in supporting parkrun's approach to risk, insurance and compliance.

The role will have lead responsibility for managing parkrun's insurance portfolio, including working with brokers, insurers and other advisers, overseeing renewals and claims, ensuring appropriate cover is maintained, and providing advice and guidance on insurance and related risk matters.

Alongside this, the role will support the development and embedding of parkrun's approach to risk management, working with teams to establish practical and proportionate processes and controls. The role will also provide broader compliance support to the Legal and Governance team, including policies, processes and relevant areas of organisational risk such as information security, cyber security and data protection.

This is a varied role for someone with practical experience in insurance and risk, excellent communication skills and the ability to work confidently across a broad range of compliance matters. You will be expected to take ownership of your areas of responsibility, work collaboratively across the organisation and provide practical, proportionate advice.

• Take lead responsibility for managing parkrun's insurance portfolio, ensuring appropriate cover is maintained and effectively administered.
• Manage relationships with brokers, insurers and external advisers, including co-ordinating the annual renewal process.
• Oversee insurance claims, working with brokers, insurers and relevant colleagues through to resolution.
• Provide advice and guidance on insurance, coverage and related risk matters.
• Monitor changes in parkrun's activities and risk profile and identify implications for insurance arrangements.

• Support the development and embedding of parkrun's organisation-wide approach to risk management and promote a consistent and practical approach to risk across the organisation.
• Supporting the management and mitigation of cyber and information security risk.
• Provide oversight and assurance of parkrun's event risk assessment process and oversee the risk and compliance aspects of landowner agreements, working with relevant colleagues to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
• Work with teams to support risk registers and reporting processes and help identify emerging and strategic risks.

• Provide practical support to the Global Head of Legal and Governance including the development, review and implementation of policies and procedures and the development of parkrun's compliance framework.
• Provide practical support to parkrun's Data Protection Officer on data protection, information governance and related compliance matters as appropriate.
• Support colleagues in the management of parkrun's trade mark portfolio.

• Relevant experience in a risk, insurance, compliance or a related role.
• Strong practical knowledge of insurance, and experience of managing or supporting insurance arrangements, including working with brokers and/or insurers and dealing with claims.
• Experience managing relationships with external stakeholders and taking ownership of significant areas of work.
• A good understanding of risk management principles, frameworks and registers.
• A pragmatic and proportionate approach to risk and compliance.

• Experience in compliance including developing, reviewing and implementing policies, procedures and controls.
• Knowledge or experience of information security, cyber security, data protection or information governance.
• Experience working in a charity or other mission-led organisation.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and communicate complex, sensitive or technical issues clearly to a wide range of audiences.
• Ability to take ownership of significant areas of responsibility and manage work confidently with appropriate levels of autonomy.
