We are looking to strengthen our Commercial team with a Managing Quantity Surveyor based at Hampton with hybrid working available.
You will report directly to the Commercial Manager and you will be expected to provide leadership and management to the commercial delivery teams and core team commercial functions for our business.
Responsibilities- Commercial management to drive commercial excellence into project delivery, ensuring accuracy of forecasts and protection of fee at all times.
- Develop, nurture and maintain relationships with clients and subcontractors to support delivery and contract negotiation.
- Provide commercial support to the procurement team, ensuring value for money at all times.
- Negotiate with clients, ensuring adherence to MWHTs governance.
- Continuously review commercial resource levels, playing an active part in recruitment to ensure effective and efficient delivery.
- Support the Commercial Manager in providing contractual and commercial training to all staff in the region.
- Support the Commercial Manager in reviewing and continuously developing commercial processes and procedures.
- Undertake approvals and other processes in accordance with the MWHT authority matrix.
- Deputise for the Commercial Manager as and when required.
- Assist in the management and development of junior commercial staff.
- Collaboratively work with the client to ensure business requirements are met.
- Maintain a positive and solution‑oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
- In all internal and external contact, present a professional and positive image of the department and MWH Treatment, maintaining mutually constructive, positive and beneficial relationships.
- Take all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality.
- Degree qualified or equivalent.
- Experience in utilities, civil engineering, MEICA sectors.
- NEC3 / IChemE experience.
- Experience of managing commercial teams.
- Extensive commercial experience within a contracting environment.
- Experience at a senior management level, demonstrating leadership qualities that promote an environment for excellence.
- Proficiency in contract management and risk assessment.
- Experience and knowledge of IT reporting systems.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Working towards or holding a chartered membership of a recognised institution.
- Experience of managing and developing an individual or small team.
- Experience of managing a portfolio of works with multiple stakeholders.
