Position DescriptionAs a Fiber Splicer, you will place cable in conduit and fuse splice fiber optic distribution cables into fiber enclosures. You will support OSP deployment with a focus on safety, customer service, and quality.
Responsibilities- Splice fiber optic cables (loose tube & ribbon, including high count ribbon fiber)
- Construct splice cases and fiber termination panels
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance to resolve signal problems
- Operate technical equipment (computer, OTDR, power meters, fusion splicers)
- Lift and manipulate splice enclosures & plant equipment
- Install and dress fiber optic cabling
- Read and interpret existing fiber records
- Report splice and test results timely
- Maintain Tilson safety values and ensure worksite safety
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience with fiber optic cable splicing, testing & repair
- Proficiency with cable strippers, crimpers, and test equipment
- Ability to complete testing and report results promptly
- Strong work ethic, leadership desire
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Work safely, with or without supervision
- Experience with loose tube & ribbon splicing, high‑count fibers
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
Must be at least 21 years of age to meet Tilson’s driving eligibility requirements.
