Summary
The Director of Engineering will be responsible for overseeing engineering operations, managing projects, optimizing Manufacturing and Distribution processes, and leading a team of engineers and technical staff. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in manufacturing engineering, customer-facing product design, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to operational excellence.
Duties / Responsibilities- Lead and develop a team of engineers, providing mentorship, training, and performance management.
- Drive innovation, process improvements, and cost-reduction initiatives within manufacturing and distribution operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain, to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Align engineering activities with company objectives and long-term strategic goals.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes to improve quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement methodologies.
- Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies, automation, and process improvements.
- Manage capital projects, including budgeting, timelines, and execution.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure successful project completion.
- Develop and monitor engineering metrics and KPIs to drive operational improvements.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Work closely with Safety teams to improve workplace safety.
- Maintain documentation for engineering projects, process changes, and regulatory compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Five or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation, and industrial engineering principles.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in CAD software, ERP systems, and project management tools.
- 10 or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Certifications in Lean Six Sigma or related.
Core business hours are generally 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. However, this position may require work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on Company operations.
Physical RequirementsPrimary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting including verbally communicating, seeing and hearing to exchange information and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard. Daily physical functions include standing, sitting and walking for prolonged periods of time and occasionally stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting. The employee may engage in lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling light to moderate amounts of weight up to 25 pounds.
The position also requires the operation of office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement.
