OverviewThe Sales Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all sales activities within assigned territories to meet customer satisfaction and achieve sales targets in the metal detection equipment sector.
Responsibilities- Identify customer needs that present an opportunity for sales.
- Propose solutions to the customer needs and ensure a smooth sales process.
- Service existing accounts, obtain purchase orders, and establish new accounts by planning and organizing a daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales clients in support of the Regional Sales Managers or National Sales Manager.
- Submit quotes through computer software.
- Interact with customers by informing clients of product, offerings, pricing, and order status.
- Keep management informed by submitting activity and results reports.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge of products.
- Manage the entire technical sale process from prospecting to delivering an installed solution and cultivating references.
- Manage key accounts and distributors.
- Support regional sales managers with quote creation and lead follow‑up.
- Serve as the designated backup for the Order Entry Administrator, reviewing and validating sales orders for accuracy and completeness, ensuring timely data entry, and maintaining alignment with inventory availability and pricing guidelines.
- Assist in the organization of trade show preparation.
- Coordinate the rental fleet program, including scheduling, equipment availability, and internal communication between sales and service departments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Science, or a related field.
- 3 years of technical B2B sales experience.
- Working knowledge of differences among WTMD, OPENGATE, ferromagnetic detector, and hand‑wands.
- General knowledge of active versus passive detection; thorough knowledge of detector models applicable to general security, high security, and focused security (e.g., electronic detection, flammable liquid detection).
- 5 years in at least 2 of the following 4 categories:
- Supporting a sales team or large sales force.
- Technical B2B sales experience.
- Contract issuance and understanding.
- Service agreement and service process experience.
Travel may be required for up to 5–10% of the time. Must be available to meet clients both domestically and internationally. Overnight travel is required.
