Qualifications
  • Takes responsibility to organize and supervise the volleyball sports program.
  • Has previous successful coaching experience in volleyball.
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and continues to learn new theories and procedures.
  • Serves as an appropriate role model for student athletes in instructions and actions.
Must Have

  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association training
  • First Aide Training
  • Concussion Protocol Course
Reports To

The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school administration.

Job Goal

To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for individual and team success while promoting socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and pride of accomplishment.

General

The success of athletic programs influences the community’s image. Public exposure and community/parent pressure can be taxing, but sportsmanship and mental health objectives should remain paramount.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintain knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the Twinsburg Board of Education and ensure implementation by the program staff.
  • Understand existing system, state and league regulations; interpret and apply them consistently for staff.
Staff Responsibilities
  • Establish fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff; design conferences, clinics and meetings to promote staff awareness.
  • Train and inform staff, encouraging professional growth through clinic attendance.
  • Delegate specific duties, supervise implementation, analyze staff effectiveness and evaluate helpers.
  • Maintain discipline and increase morale and cooperation.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the athletic director or principal.
Administrative Duties
  • Assist the athletic director with scheduling, transportation needs and event requirements.
  • Prepare for scheduled sport events, coordinate with facilities and maintenance staff, and adhere to facility times.
  • Provide documentation for state and system requirements: physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.
  • Safeguard and maintain equipment; advise on policy and procedural changes.
Student Responsibilities
  • Mentor athletes, fostering trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
  • Monitor athlete grades and conduct; provide guidance during practices, games and travel.
  • Enforce training rules and sport regulations.
  • Coordinate injury, medical attention and emergency programs with the athletic trainer; complete injury paperwork within 24 hours.
  • Direct student managers, assistants and statisticians; assist athletes with college or advanced education planning.
Finance And Equipment
  • Participate in budgeting with the athletic director, establishing equipment needs.
  • Ensure adherence to budget appropriations and collect costs for lost or unreturned equipment.
  • Manage equipment issuance, storage, reconditioning, and annual inventory.
  • Mark and identify all equipment; monitor equipment rooms and authorize usage.
  • Maintain cleanliness and security of facilities and equipment.
Public Relations
  • Organize preseason meetings with parents, coaches, players and guests.
  • Promote volleyball within the school and community through recruiting, media outreach, and local programs.
  • Ensure quality and validity of releases to local media; maintain good relations with media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers and fans.
  • Present information to media about schedules, tournaments and results.
