1st Shift Machine Operator Monday-Friday 5 AM to 3 PM
Join RTP Company as a 1st Shift Machine Operator. The role is available at RTP Company, a global compo under of custom engineered thermoplastics headquartered in Winona, Minnesota. This position is within Crescent Textile Solutions, a manufacturer of woolen-spun yarns located on the western shore of Lake Michigan in Two Rivers, WI. Crescent has provided natural and synthetic yarns for almost 100 years.
The operations include blending, carding, spinning, winding, doubling, and twisting.
The Twisting Machine Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring twister, winder, and automatic doubler machines to ensure consistent output. The work schedule is Monday - Thursday, 5:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
Responsibilities- Operate twister, winder, and automatic doubler machines
- Follow instructions on how to construct a finished product
- Read yarn tickets to ensure the proper yarn is used
- Record work performed on yarn ticket form
- Watch for end breaks and retie ends when needed
- Restart sections that are not running
- Place full bobbins onto creels
- Package (box) cones and put full boxes on strapping racks
- Sticker cones for proper identification
- Keep accurate records for daily production time sheets and yarn tickets
- Inform supervisor when computer programming is required
- Keep machine clean and free from waste material at all times
- Notify shift supervisor immediately when quality problems are detected
- Use appropriate safety equipment and notify shift supervisor immediately of any hazards, near miss accidents and any accidents
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed
Skills and Abilities
- Must be dependable with excellent attendance
- Must be self-directed with a strong work ethic
- Must work well with others and has a positive attitude
- Must be safety conscious
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Previous experience with circular knitting machines a plus
- Strong attention to detail
- Good basic math skills
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- HS degree or GED preferred
- Past manufacturing experience preferred
- Frequent bending/stooping, squatting, reaching above shoulder level, crouching and lifting (up to 60 lbs)
- Continual walking in a relatively confined area is required
- Frequent standing at floor level and above floor level on equipment
- Coordination of skills performed at heights no greater than three feet
- Exposure to extremes (90º
F) in temperature - Good vision is required, 20/20 or corrected to 20/20
- Frequent and continuous use of hands and arms
- Employees with sensitivities to dust may be exposed to airborne dust; they are encouraged to wear a mask to filter airborne fibers.
