Overview
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Receptionist in Tyler, TX 633 N. Broadway Ave. Tyler, TX 75702.
Job SummaryAnswers the telephone in a courteous manner and directs calls to the appropriate destination; records accurate and complete messages when necessary; greets and announces visitors and clients; provides general information about The Salvation Army's operations and services; performs routine clerical work such as typing and filing.
Responsibilities- Answers the telephone and transfers calls to the appropriate destination; responds to callers' questions and provides accurate information.
- Telephone others to communicate messages; records accurate and complete messages; ensures the timely and accurate distribution of messages through telephone and/or e-mail.
- Receives, greets and announces visitors in a courteous and tactful manner; provides assistance to callers and visitors by answering questions and providing instructions and referrals; screens sales representatives soliciting to The Salvation Army.
- Notifies proper individuals when visitors or clients have arrived; ensures that visitors and clients have signed in.
- Adds/deletes names and extensions to the phone list to ensure the list remains up-to-date on a daily basis; proofreads telephone lists for mistakes before the list is printed.
- Monitors entrance to the building and parking lot, ensuring the security of the same.
- Prepares and sends donor acknowledgement letters; memorial and honorarium notifications; utilizes the postage meter machine.
- Receives and prepares receipts for non-monetary donations, packages, express mail, and items delivered to the lobby; notifies proper individuals of item arrival by telephone and/or e-mail.
- Performs routine administrative duties such as typing and filing as requested.
- Replenishes War Cry stock and distributes it to the appropriate department.
- Provides assistance with special or seasonal projects such as Christmas, Adopt a Family, Angel Tree, etc.
- Maintains the neatness and attractiveness of the reception area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED required and two years of experience working with telephone switchboard responsibilities or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
