SummaryThe VA North Texas Health Care System is recruiting a Physician (Section Chief‑Ambulatory Care Service) at the Tyler VA Primary Care Clinic. The Section Chief will lead a team of primary‑care professionals to deliver comprehensive care to Veteran patients. A recruitment/relocation incentive may be authorized for a highly qualified candidate.
Qualifications- United States citizenship; non‑citizens only if no qualified citizens can be recruited per VA policy.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth or District of Columbia.
- Completed residency training in an ACGME or AOA accredited core specialty leading to board‑certification eligibility.
- Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or a comparable specialty is preferred.
- Physicians currently enrolled in an ACGME/AOA accredited residency program who otherwise meet the basic requirements may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on an intermittent or fee‑basis.
- Physical requirements:
moderate lifting 15‑44 lb., moderate carrying 15‑44 lb., reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, walking 8 hours, vision and hearing requirements per VA standards. - English language proficiency (spoken and written) as required by 38 U.S.C. §§ 7402(d) and 7407(d).
- Lead the Ambulatory Care Service, supervising primary‑care providers and ensuring adherence to VA policies and quality standards.
- Supervise one or more Community‑Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) as required.
- Provide independent care delivery for chronic and acute/same‑day medical needs, including history & physical, medication management, diagnostic testing, and treatment planning.
- Lead a Primary‑Care Access Team (PACT) to manage patient panels, coordinate care, and promote preventive medicine.
- Write orders, prescribe medications, order diagnostics, and consult with specialty services.
- Utilize electronic medical records, perform medication reconciliation, and maintain documentation.
- Ensure PACT compliance with My Healthe Vet and other VA encounter‑completion requirements.
- Participate in telehealth and VA Video Connect services as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
