We are seeking a Field Engineer for our Transportation-Construction Management team in the Tyler, TX area.
The Field Engineer will manage field inspection of roadway and bridge projects, prepare and submit progress and final estimates, check engineering calculations, interpret contract documents, draft engineering solutions in Micro Station for contractors and owners, and oversee contractors to ensure projects conform to plans and specifications.
This position involves working on road and bridge projects for transportation clients, including the Texas Department of Transportation. You will be part of a project-specific team within a larger organization of over 100 construction professionals dedicated to transportation management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- At least 4 years of experience in major road or bridge construction
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas or ability to obtain license within 6 months
- Ability to obtain necessary certifications and pass qualification tests within specified time frames
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop frequently and for extended periods
- Ability to reach horizontally and vertically for tasks
- Ability to use construction safety equipment, including fall protection
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of hands-on experience with CADD software, preferably Micro Station, and experience with Highway Design and Work Zone Traffic Control Plans
- Experience with various contract delivery methods such as Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CMGC
- OSHA 10-hour certification
