This role requires conducting weekly unannounced inspections, monitoring compliance with heightened monitoring plans, investigating complaints and allegations, and providing training and technical assistance to residential child‑care providers.

The inspector collaborates with the Department of Family and Protective Services as part of a multi‑agency program, providing increased oversight on facilities that have a compliance history warranting heightened monitoring.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs)- Conduct weekly unannounced inspections and monitor compliance with HM plans (25%).
- Document compliance, notify providers of corrective actions, and facilitate reviews of waivers, variances, and permit renewals (20%).
- Investigate complaints, allegations, and potential abuse or neglect, completing actions within required time frames (25%).
- Identify risk and refer to enforcement when necessary, processing plans of action and follow‑up inspections (10%).
- Provide training and technical assistance to providers, including inquiry sessions and standard trainings (10%).
- Respond to emergency complaints of high‑risk situations (5%).
- Perform additional duties to maintain unit operations (5%).
Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)- Knowledge of Texas laws and regulations.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

- Critical thinking to identify risk and mitigation measures.

- Basic office equipment operation, including camera/AV equipment.
- Travel capability.
- Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university or equivalent experience.
- Experience in regulatory services such as inspections and investigations.
Regular attendance is required. Work hours may be flexible; occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary. Telework may be 100% with mobile technology. Reliable transportation and a valid Texas driver’s license are required. Background check and verification of degrees/licenses required.
Applicants may also qualify for CCL Inspector IV or V positions if previous experience exists.
