Overview
Texas Oncology is looking for a Pharmacy/Admixture Technician to join our team at the Tyler location. This is a PRN position with a typical work week Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. No weekends or major holidays. Depending on experience, the level may be 1, 2, or Sr.

Work EnvironmentThe Pharmacy Admixture Technician supports the Pharmacy Department under the direct supervision of a physician or registered pharmacist. The role involves medication preparation, distribution, record‑keeping, and inventory control.
Responsibilities- Assist with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision.
- Check orders for completeness and verify patient information and physician authorization.
- Admix drugs as ordered by a physician in an accurate and timely manner, adhering to department, OSHA, and interoffice guidelines.
- Calculate correct dosage volumes and convert between metric and apothecary equivalents.
- Assist in controlled substance record‑keeping according to practice guidelines and regulations.
- Dispose of materials used in mixing chemo or non‑chemo IVs following practice guidelines and applicable laws.
- Clean hoods daily and perform quality‑assurance activities.
- Maintain accurate temperature logs and drug protocol logs.
- Manage inventory, documenting quantities, lot numbers, and expiration dates.
- Support medication use continuum, including label preparation, documentation, and pre‑billing review.
- Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the admixture area and pharmacy department.
- Support compliance program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
The ideal candidate will have one of the following levels of experience:
- Level 1 – High School diploma or equivalent; 0–3 years experience in a pharmacy.
- Level 2 – Minimum 3–5 years experience with IV skills; IV certification preferred;
Pharmacy Technician certification or state board requirement recommended. - Level Sr – Minimum 5–7 years experience with IV skills; oncology background preferred; completion of ASCP‑accredited or community college program recommended.

Requires full range of motion, manual dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and the ability to sit/stand for extended periods. Occasionally lifts up to 40 lb.
Work EnvironmentOffice environment with regular exposure to medicinal preparations and chemotherapeutic agents.
