General Description

The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Office of the Attorney General is seeking a Sergeant to conduct criminal investigations of Medicaid provider fraud and nursing home related investigations. Work involves investigating violations of state and federal statutes and providing prosecution assistance. Essential Position Functions
  • Conduct complex criminal investigations of Medicaid provider fraud and nursing home investigations, using various techniques, to bring violators to justice and identify over payments.
  • Plan and conduct undercover investigations, surveillance, raids, and searches; gather and examine evidence; execute court orders; report findings.
  • Establish and maintain liaison with outside agencies to enhance investigations; participate in team efforts; contribute to a positive work environment.
  • May train, lead, and assist others.
  • Respond to emergency situations, serving on-call 24/7.
  • Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Sixty credit hours from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience in investigations, law enforcement, auditing, or healthcare compliance.
    • Four years of criminal investigative experience as a licensed peace officer or federal law enforcement officer.
    • TCOLE certification.
    • Knowledge of investigative principles, criminal and civil court procedures, and relevant statutes.
    • Skills in communication, research, applying investigative techniques, and handling multiple tasks.
    • Ability to develop strategic plans, use firearms and impact weapons, and conduct investigations.
    • Ability to interpret laws and policies, supervise others, and work under stress.
    • Ability to work in person, travel up to 20%, and lift 30 lbs.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in white collar or economic crime investigations, healthcare fraud, or working with prosecutors.
    • Knowledge of healthcare fraud statutes and documentation systems.
