Location:
Tyler, TX — ensure the proper functioning of the electronic control systems present on the production equipment and auxiliary systems, and participate in the continuous improvement and safety projects.
- Provide technical support while training users on the best use of existing equipment.
- Seek actions to improve or update existing equipment; make recommendations to your immediate supervisor by establishing a realistic budget.
- Maintain all technical documentation related to its activities (technical plan, work procedures, drawings, etc.).
- Regularly perform system inspections to ensure they are functioning properly.
- Assist the Maintenance Purchaser on related critical parts inventory.
- Provide technical support on existing VFD motor drive systems, PLCs, HMIs and Industrial Communication Network and troubleshoot/repair machine breakdowns.
- Provide technical support to upgrade obsolete systems or parts.
- Assure safe work practices in a fast-paced work environment.
- Train on new technology and share knowledge back with the plant team.
- Regular use of computers, telephones and other types of equipment.
- Must organize complex tasks and meet deadlines.
- Provides training/coaching.
- Read, understand and follow Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and QSP (Quality Standard Procedures) requirements.
- Must be able to work in a plant environment moving safely in and around machines and equipment.
- Available to work temporarily different hours if required.
- 5 to 7 years PLC programming experience and Associate’s Degree in Electronics Technology; or equivalent certification or 7 to 10 years experience in field and some post secondary education.
- Proficient working knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC's/controls/protocols.
- Proficient working knowledge of VFD motors and motor controllers.
- Working knowledge of industrial drives/controllers.
- Ability to prepare technical reports for documenting issues/changes to equipment.
- Ability to implement changes and improvements.
- Stay up-to-date with newer technology.
