Job SummaryThe primary function of a Feed Mill Transportation Supervisor is to oversee the scheduling, delivery, and retrieval of poultry feed through subordinate Feed Delivery Supervisors, review driver loads ensuring consistent and equitable dispatch, perform data entry, maintain equipment, and provide safety training.
Job Responsibilities- Partner with the Feed Mill Manager to establish and follow programs to efficiently haul, deliver, and reclaim feed, ensuring sufficient inventory and reclaiming overage.
- Oversee feed loads dispatched by Feed Delivery Supervisors, verify correct feed formula, review, research, and reconcile tickets, and report anomalies to the Manager.
- Ensure daily reporting is accurately completed and recorded as required (e.g., department reports, attendance/staffing, yields).
- Ensure department adherence to DOT, FDA, USDA, and company procedures.
- Investigate delivery errors, implement corrective actions, and follow up on recommendations to ensure implementation.
- Respond to vehicle accidents, follow proper procedures, communicate with Health & Safety Manager, and participate in root‑cause investigations and reporting.
- Perform driver ride‑alongs annually, provide feedback and required training, lead safety meetings, ensure proper PPE use, and conduct departmental safety walk‑throughs.
- Monitor equipment use and downtime, schedule preventive maintenance and repairs, and plan efficient equipment use.
- Perform other related duties as directed.
- Knowledge of feed manufacturing, feed mills, trucking, scheduling, and delivery.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with excellent organizational skills and precise attention to detail.
- Strong customer‑centric attitude with high energy and sense of urgency.
- Effective verbal and written communication with employees and vendors.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic environment to meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining productivity and meeting deadlines.
- Physical ability to lift 40 lbs., bend, stoop, reach, grasp, twist, kneel, and stand for long periods.
- Willingness to work non‑standard shifts (holiday, weekend, extended) as needed.
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or other related field preferred. Valid CDL license may be required.
ExperienceMinimum of three (3) years of data entry/clerical experience with strong knowledge of feed milling procedures, scheduling, and processes.
Supervisor Responsibilities- This role is a Leader of People role with required competencies: sizing up people, delegation, planning, customer focus, and conflict management.
The role is performed in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to injury risk, cold or humid and/or hot and dusty conditions. Loud noise above 89 dB is possible. Non‑standard shifts may be required.
