- UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of the system, has 502 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24‑hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians, and a full complement of subspecialty groups.
- Administers emergent and critical care to a patient population which ranges from neonates to geriatrics utilizing the nursing process.
- Works cooperatively and interdependently with emergency, prehospital, law enforcement, and ancillary personnel while coordinating the emergent and critical care of patients requiring helicopter transportation.
- Markets the Air 1 Program and serves as a representative of the department, as well as the ETMC Regional Healthcare System, when involved with a public relations activity and/or marketing activity.
- Understands and supports the ETMC Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Degree in nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- At least three years critical care nursing experience. Critical care experience is defined as no less than 4,000 hrs in an ICU or emergency department.
- Texas RN license
- Texas EMT‑B certification and EMT‑P within one year.
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN)
- NRP
- One advanced certification (CFRN, CEN, CCRN) required or within two years of employment.
