American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical night shift position requiring a TX or compact license and prior travel nursing experience.

• Work in a 19-bed private room Medical Surgical unit (3 South)
• Patient population ranges from young adults to geriatric patients
• Unit prioritizes medical surgical patients, including those with neurology or neurosurgical diagnoses
• Unit is equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Epic charting system used

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience required
• Minimum 1 year of patient ratio experience at 1:6
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral/PICC line care
• Experience with gastrointestinal, respiratory, genitourinary, and neurological patient care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and PPE use
• Knowledge of IV insulin protocols and medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA

• Provide direct care to medical, surgical, and neurology/neurosurgical patients
• Utilize telemetry and oximetry monitoring equipment on the unit
• Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not accepted
• Former staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of requested time off will be auto-approved, and no time off is allowed during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
