American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology unit requiring at least 2 years of experience and prior travel experience.

• Work on a 36-bed general medical-surgical and oncology/hematology unit with telemetry capability
• 18 beds designated for medical-surgical patients and 18 for oncology/hematology patients
• Care for young adult through geriatric oncology and hematology patients at varying stages of disease
• May also receive general medical/surgical overflow patients
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• Epic charting system experience required

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• Chemo certification and NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Prior travel experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience with blood product administration and chemotherapy administration/monitoring preferred
• Competency in BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management
• Proficient in administration of heparin, insulin, and PCA medications
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care experience preferred

• Provide direct patient care across the disease spectrum for oncology and hematology patients
• Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
• Complete core onboarding items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
• Complete onsite orientation modules, averaging 4-6 hours for RNs
• Must not have resided as a traveler in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
• Former facility staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved and none during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
