Job Description

We are looking for a Cable Technician / Installer. This position will require a heavy presence in a semi‑conductor manufacturing facility in a clean‑room environment. This entails working in a clean‑room environment wearing smock suits and required PPE for extended periods of time. The perfect candidate will be expected to demonstrate the proper procedure to terminate category 5e/6/6a cabling. Be able to trouble shoot and test cabling infrastructure with industry standard test equipment.

Candidate will be expected to have a basic understanding of how to implement a structured pathway and experience to account for the physical constraints of copper cabling on the desired pathway. The candidate will need to be able to interpret and follow floor plan designs and be able to address any deviations from the plans in a professional manner. Must be able to follow safe working protocols on site at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with installation, adjustments, and changes to network connections for technical systems.
  • Perform work under supervision.
  • Install, terminate, test and troubleshoot copper cabling mediums for data infrastructures in a large enterprise environment.
  • Properly label, comb and dress cables following site standards and industry standards.
  • Must have moderate knowledge in computer literacy skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, traversing of a standard filing system, general typing skills, and familiarity of proper email etiquette.
  • Have the ability to work from a request ticket system.
  • Have the ability to document one’s work proficiently as well aid in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Occasional support to network team (rack and de‑rack network devices, support during HW replacements, hotfix participation to resolve connectivity issues, etc.) is expected.
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Follow all on‑site security protocols and Standard Operating Procedures and comply with all company policies.

Pay rate:

Mid level – $58K – $60K/yr. (DOE)

Junior level – $48K – $50K/yr. (DOE)

Qualifications
  • Mid level – requires at least 5 years of related working experience.
  • Junior level – less than 5 years of related working experience.
  • High school diploma.
  • Able to speak, understand, and write English.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Basic competence for utilization of hand tools.
  • Familiarity with cable / construction industry standards.
  • Familiarity with copper testing procedures and metrics.
  • Must be able to work a Monday through Friday 8 to 5 pm schedule.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule when needed (pass 5 pm or on weekends).
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, work in elevated areas on ladders upwards of 40 feet, in confined spaces and tight areas for long periods of time.
  • Interest and willingness to learn.
  • Must live within 1 driving hour maximum from Taylor, TX (North Austin to Taylor area).

Preferred qualifications (Plus):

  • 1 year of experience in a construction atmosphere.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in structured cabling.
  • Proficient competence for utilization of testing equipment.
  • Strong understanding of layer 1 network infrastructure.
