Heavy Equipment Operator
Company Overview
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating and maintaining various heavy machinery—including roll‑off trucks, pay loaders, and backhoes—to move, load, and transport materials, including hazardous and non‑hazardous waste, in compliance with environmental and safety guidelines. A valid CDL is required, and candidates must be willing to work additional shifts as needed to maintain production support.

- Operate heavy equipment such as roll‑off trucks, large pay loaders, backhoes, and other machinery to move, load, unload, and relocate materials.
- Load waste into dump trucks in a manner that prevents overfills and potential road spills.
- Transport non‑hazardous waste to the company‑owned landfill site.
- Handle and move hazardous waste in accordance with Environmental Department guidelines and supervisor direction.
- Perform routine inspections and minor maintenance on equipment; report any malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Complete and submit Industrial Equipment Condition Reports as directed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain clean and safe work areas.
- While the above responsibilities will be the primary focus of this job, the company reserves the right to assign additional duties as necessary to meet operational needs.
- Must possess an unrestricted, valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in compliance with Texas law for operating vehicles with GVWR over 26,000 lbs.
- Must maintain a clean driving record (e.g., no DWI) to remain eligible to operate company vehicles.
- Must comply with the McWane Safe Driving and Vehicle Loss Control Policy.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as roll‑off trucks, pay loaders, and backhoes preferred.
- Ability to perform basic maintenance and inspections of equipment.
- Must be willing to work additional 1st or 2nd shifts as needed.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to environmental guidelines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a physically demanding environment.
