We are hiring a Fire Alarm Deputy Project Leader on behalf of a leading provider of integrated electrical, technology, and life safety solutions. This role sits within a high-performing Life Safety division and supports the design, installation, and execution of fire alarm and low-voltage infrastructure projects across multiple customer sites.

Position Overview

The Fire Alarm Deputy Project Leader is a developmental leadership role designed for candidates ready to advance into full project management responsibility. You will help oversee day-to-day project operations, manage planning and documentation, support technical design activities, and coordinate cross‑functional execution across active life safety projects.

Ideal candidates bring experience with fire alarm systems—or adjacent technical systems such as electronic security, building automation, or industrial controls—and a strong desire to deepen expertise within the life safety field.

This role requires strong communication, customer focus, technical aptitude, and the ability to lead teams toward successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily management of project or project sub‑sections, ensuring work progresses safely, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Identify, price, track, and support execution of change orders.
  • Assist with strategic planning, budgeting, and timeline management.
  • Maintain project documentation including as‑built drawings, issue logs, RFIs, submittals, and specifications.
  • Conduct blueprint and specification reviews to support technical execution.
  • Help prepare estimates for partially designed projects by completing remaining designs and producing a full project estimate.
  • Coordinate with owners, contractors, engineers, and supervisory personnel to resolve field or design issues.
  • Maintain project cash‑flow understanding and monitor expenses against budget targets.
  • Support project completion, punch‑list execution, and close‑out activities.
  • Represent the company professionally with customers, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Drive timely decision‑making and ensure all conversations, agreements, and clarifications are documented appropriately.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BSEE preferred) or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in construction, electrical contracting, low‑voltage systems, or fire protection.
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm system applications, including IBC, NEC, and NFPA codes or willingness to learn the fire/life safety domain.
  • Experience supporting construction projects ranging from $500K – $10M.
  • Proficiency working with contract drawings, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.
  • Understanding of CPM scheduling.
  • Ability to interpret and produce technical plans, blueprints, and design documents.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to plan and prioritize multiple ongoing tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and PDF editing/markup tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with estimating software (Accubid or equivalent).
  • Primavera P6 or similar CPM scheduling experience.
  • Experience in electrical installations, low‑voltage, or life safety system environments.
  • Ability to travel to project locations as needed.
Physical & Cognitive Requirements
  • Ability to sit, work at a computer, and review digital documents for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for computer work and handling technical documents.
  • Ability to listen, comprehend, and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Strong analytical reasoning and problem‑solving ability.
