Government Contracts Associate (Counseling) Position Overview

As an associate in our Government Contracts practice, you will counsel government contractors of all sizes on all legal aspects of government contracting, with a focus on often complex compliance, regulatory, and transactional matters. You will be part of a dynamic and collegial team with opportunities to work directly with clients and to expand and shape your own practice.
Requirements include experience with a broad range of regulatory compliance (e.g., FAR/DFARS) matters and drafting, analyzing, and negotiating agreements (e.g., teaming agreements, prime and subcontract agreements, license agreements, other transaction authority agreements, and/or grant and cooperative agreements). Experience with bid protests, suspension and debarment, compliance audits, novations, small business programs, GSA schedules, intellectual property and data rights, cybersecurity, labor and employment issues, internal and government investigations, domestic preference requirements, and/or FAA regulatory matters is desirable.
Successful candidates will possess excellent analytical, research, and writing skills; strong communication and client‑management abilities; the ability to manage multiple matters in a fast‑paced environment; and consistent attention to detail.
This position can expect to have direct interaction with clients and responsibility for managing matters independently.
Qualifications- Must be a team player who can work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong interpersonal skills
- 5+ years of experience in Government Contracts
- Admission (or waiver) to Virginia Bar
- Top‑25 Law School or top graduate in GW Law Government Procurement Concentration
- DoD/National Security background
- Judicial Clerkship in the Court of Federal Claims or a Board of Contract Appeals
- Full‑time work experience with a federal contractor, a government agency, and/or a nationally recognized government contracts practice
- Tech or intellectual property experience
