Legal Secretary
An established mid-size law firm is seeking a detail‑oriented paralegal to support the civil litigation, commercial real estate, and finance practice groups located in Tysons Corner, VA. The position is full‑time on‑site.
About the RoleTo ensure success in this role, you should demonstrate strong writing and proofreading skills, solidly grasp state and federal civil litigation rules and procedures, and have experience supporting transactional and/or litigation attorneys. Organization, attention to detail, good time management, and the ability to support multiple attorneys will be keys to success in this role.
Responsibilities- Independently draft correspondence;
- Proofread and edit pleadings, motions, and correspondence for proper grammar and formatting;
- Correctly cite check legal briefs and revise citations per the latest Bluebook rules;
- Independently and timely handle filings;
- Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics, maintain pleadings and discovery indexes, etc.);
- Assist with all aspects of discovery, including document production;
- Manage transactional files and document processes, inclusive of closing checklists;
- Assist with due diligence searches and research property information from local government agencies;
- Assist in preparing closing documents, lease agreements, and other contracts.
- Proven experience working in civil litigation and/or a transactional practice like commercial real estate or finance;
- Knowledge of civil litigation rules and procedures, as well as the life cycle of a civil case;
- Good organization with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment;
- Strong writing and communication skills, along with attention to detail;
- Commitment to client service;
- Extensive computer and database expertise;
- Ability to pass a grammar and writing test.
