The Fire Alarm Technician 3 supervises and performs FA system upgrades and installations, provides advanced troubleshooting and complex programming.
Responsibilities- Perform high level troubleshooting of fire alarm systems of all makes and models
- Perform complex programming of FA systems
- Perform complete site survey for FA system upgrades and new installations; identify needs to bring system up to Code.
- Perform intermediate level calculations including battery, NAC panel and system standby
- Create redline drawings for as‑built preparation
- Troubleshoot complex networked fire alarm/mass notification systems
- Develop PITCO plan and lead PITCO process
- Create submittal packages for permits
- Develop as‑built drawings
- Lead installation projects for FA system upgrades and new installations.
- Supervise and train crew members on‑site.
- Tools / Software Applications MS Office Suite of products
- SharePoint Calculations – Battery Sizing, Voltage Drop
- Silent Knight FA programming software
- Keypad programming for various FA Systems Bluebeam
- HS Diploma/GED required with 8 years of experience in Fire Alarm or 2 years technology degree and 6 years of experience in Fire Alarm
- Work overtime as directed by supervisor.
- Must be willing to work on M.C. Dean, Inc. projects anywhere.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to pass random drug screening.
- Must have valid driver’s license, good driving records to operate an MC Dean vehicle as part of this job requirement.
- Must consistently report to work on time, work well with other employees to accomplish a common goal, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Advanced troubleshooting including researching online, system manuals to resolve problems.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, Fire Alarm System Theory, OSHA Requirements, and Industry Standards for Fire Alarm systems installation.
- This position has been identified as requiring an additional client background check
- NICET Inspection and Testing of Water‑Based Systems II or Pass NICET II exam within 90 days of employment
- NICET 3 or 4 highly preferred.
- ICC/NAFED Certified Portable Fire Extinguisher Technician (or equivalent certification)
- Any other NICET certification is a plus
- Above average level of attention to detail and professional work ethic.

- The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
