Responsibilities

The Carpenter is responsible for performing a variety of carpentry duties as assigned. These include designing, constructing, installing, and repairing wooden fixtures and structures such as cabinets, furniture, shelving, doors, plaques, and other custom wood products. Additional duties involve framing, finish work, painting, staining, monitoring subcontractor performance, troubleshooting on-site, and performing primary project layout and carpentry production.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with at least two (2) years of prior experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
  • Capability to construct metal framing partition walls, including drywall finishing and painting to a level 5 finish.
  • Proficiency in using computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based environment.
  • Skill in the use of hand and power tools relevant to the trade.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • Abilities:

  • Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for extended periods.
  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet, climbing and maintaining balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
  • Performs routine movements such as walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
  • Possesses good vision (corrected if necessary), the ability to see in color, and to hear and communicate effectively in English.
  • Uses standard ladders within weight limits while carrying tools.
  • Recognizes when something is wrong or likely to go wrong, without necessarily solving the problem.
  • Applies general rules to specific problems to produce logical answers.
  • Integrates pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions, including identifying relationships among seemingly unrelated events.
  • Can see details at close range within a few feet.
  • Listens to and comprehends spoken words and sentences effectively.
