Overview
Dean | Fluor is seeking a Critical Facilities (Control Room) Technician to join our operations team, focusing on the operations and maintenance of a mission-critical government data center.
The technician's responsibilities include ensuring optimal operation of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
This role involves performing diverse duties to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain facility equipment following preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance procedures.
Responsibilities
The Control Room Technician performs work across various maintenance trades, including HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical, managing and operating these systems in a control room environment. The technician conducts routine and special inspections to identify repair and maintenance needs to prevent facility and equipment breakdowns.
This position is classified as sensitive and may require extensive background screening to meet current or future government contract requirements. Applicants and employees may need to meet specific background eligibility criteria to apply and retain this position.
Abilities
- Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for extended periods.
- Relocates a 12-foot stepladder unaided.
- Works at heights up to 60 feet, including climbing and balancing on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
- Performs routine physical activities such as walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and overhead reaching.
- Possesses good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
- Can use standard ladders within weight limits while carrying tools.
- Recognizes when something is wrong or likely to go wrong; does not require solving the problem, only identifying issues.
- Applies general rules to specific problems to produce logical answers.
- Integrates information to form general rules or conclusions, including identifying relationships among seemingly unrelated events.
- Has the ability to see details at close range.
- Understands spoken words and sentences effectively.
Qualifications
- Job Requirements:
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with overtime as needed.
- High school diploma or GED with at least five years of facilities maintenance experience, including electrical systems, controls, generators, and life safety systems.
- Ability to read and understand work orders, manuals, and safety documentation.
- Proficiency in data entry into computerized maintenance and timekeeping systems.
- Capability to work in confined spaces, at heights, on ladders, and to lift equipment over six feet.
- Must carry a two-way radio during duty hours for emergency communication.
- Reliable transportation to the work site.
- Compliance with all licensing, certification, and regulatory requirements.
- Adherence to company policies, standards, and a commitment to teamwork and quality.
- Excellent verbal, written, multitasking, and presentation skills in English.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently.
- Willingness to perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
- Desirable Skills:
- Experience operating in a control room environment.
- Diesel engine mechanic background.
- Water treatment knowledge.
