Events Volunteer – Wealden Volunteering

Wealden Volunteering was founded over 30 years ago by the community for the community.

Our award winning centre, originally named Uckfield Volunteer Centre, provides an invaluable community hub serving Uckfield and the surrounding area. As of 2024 we re-branded to become Wealden Volunteering to reflect our growth, as we now cover Crowborough and Heathfield.

Our primary role is to match people wanting to volunteer with charities or community groups needing help. As well as helping people with volunteering, we also provide local information such as bus timetables, a photocopying & laminating service, and replacement hearing aid batteries to name a few. In addition, we support community groups and local charities, who are our members, by providing networking events and training.

The centre is run by a dedicated team of volunteers.

We are currently seeking volunteers to help out lden Volunteering appear at all kinds of events throughout the year, making sure we have a visible presence in the community to help people get into volunteering, and find the right opportunity to give their time for.

At events our volunteers are on hand to answer any questions the public may have, offering a friendly introduction to their own path into volunteering, as well as any local information they may require. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere, where you give the hours you’re able to. Whether you can help set up or take down our stall, or man it during the day, any kind of help is welcome.

Any applicants will need to be comfortable interacting with the public, and be able to offer a positive and welcoming attitude. You will be given any training required, and we always have multiple volunteers at any one time so you won’t be on your own.

Events such as our Networking Lunches or Job/Volunteer Fairs take place during the week, whereas larger events tend to be hosted re is no commitment to assist with every event, it may be you’re only able to help during the holidays or visa versa, however we would ask that any volunteers are able to help at a reasonable number.
