Bookkeeper | Machynlleth, Mid Wales | Hybrid | £28,000-£30,000 | Permanent

The Role
We’re looking for an experienced and reliable Bookkeeper to take responsibility for daily financial operations and ensure compliance with UK accounting standards. Reporting directly into the finance lead, you'll play a key role in maintaining accurate records and supporting the wider business with timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate financial ledgers and records
* Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
* Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
* Prepare and issue invoices; oversee credit control
* Process purchase invoices
* Complete and submit VAT returns
* Maintain HMRC‑compliant records
* Manage payroll, including PAYE and pensions
* Support month‑end and year‑end reporting cycles
* Liaise with external accountants when required
* Assist with grant claim evidence collation
* Support completion of statistical and financial reporting requirements
* General finance administration and filing
Essential Experience
* Proven UK-based Bookkeeping experience
* Strong understanding of UK accounting processes
* Experience preparing VAT returns and meeting HMRC requirements
* Confidence using accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Zoho)
* High accuracy and excellent attention to detail
* Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
* Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable
* AAT qualification (or working towards it)
* Experience with payroll and auto‑enrolment pensions
