Full time/permanent - 37 hours per week (Mon – Thurs: 8hrs/ Fri: 5 hrs – finish early) About the role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take ownership of cost accounting processes across our high-performance manufacturing operation. You will look to ensure accurate tracking of production costs and variances delivering valuable insights to drive decisions, and help us maintain competitive advantage through precision cost control.
In your role as our Cost Accountant, you will:- Conduct cost analysis & accurate reporting, tracking and analysing direct and indirect costs. Reporting will also look to provide cost variances and recommendations on cost-saving strategies.
- Maintain standard costs for materials, labour, and overheads.
- Monitor and reconcile inventory balances, performing month-end and year-end inventory adjustments.
- Monitor KPIs (e.g., material usage, scrap, downtime) collaborating with production teams to optimize efficiency.
- Collaborate with supply chain, production, and engineering teams, assisting in and providing input in pricing decisions, quoting, profitability analysis.
To help Mirus continue our journey of growth, the Cost Accountant has experience in tracking, analysing, and controlling costs within an organization—particularly in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and industrial sectors along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
- Experience in a similar cost or management accounting role within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Microsoft Navision Business Central, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of standard costing, BOMs, and variance analysis
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills
Certifications
- CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent
- Aerospace, automotive, or experience in a highly regulated manufacturing/engineering environment.

Be eligible to work in the UK, comfortable commuting or being based in Hingham, Norfolk and work flexible hours required.
