Payroll Administrator

Part‑Time Payroll Administrator

We are seeking a proactive, hands‑on payroll administrator capable of working in a small payroll team and reporting to the Payroll Manager. The role involves delivering a timely, accurate payroll function for the business.

• Process payroll for hourly and salaried staff across multiple payrolls.
• Verify timesheets and variable pay, liaising with line managers to resolve queries.
• Process all payroll payments including PAYE, pension, and NICs.
• Update payroll information (starters, leavers, tax code notices, SSP, attachment of earnings, etc.).
• Perform Employer Payment Submissions to HMRC and process payments.
• Respond promptly to payroll queries or issues.
• Submit pension information, including opt‑out requests and voluntary contributions.
• Run monthly payroll reports.
• Check expense claims and validate and pay claims.
• Support payroll and compliance, ensuring processes are completed accurately and efficiently.

• Salary: £30,000 – £36,000 pa pro‑rata based on experience and qualifications.

  24 hrs per week, Monday to Friday.

  In‑office, Exeter outskirts.

• Current, all‑round experience of UK payrolls and pensions, including running multiple payrolls.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain payroll information to employees.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and keen attention to detail.
• Experience with payroll software; familiarity with IRIS or Cascade is a bonus.
