Accounts Payable Assistant

Hays are currently recruiting for an experienced Accounts Payable professional to join a large, fast-paced finance function based in Heywood.

This opportunity would suit someone who has strong, hands-on Accounts Payable experience and is confident processing a high volume of supplier invoices whilst maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines. You will join a supportive AP team where you will take responsibility for a range of purchase ledger activities and work closely with both suppliers and colleagues across the business.
Your new role Working as part of a busy Accounts Payable team, your responsibilities will include:

Processing high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
Managing both PO and non-PO invoices
Reviewing invoices processed through automated scanning/OCR technology and resolving exceptions
Investigating invoice matching, coding and processing discrepancies
Completing supplier statement reconciliations and following up outstanding items
Responding to supplier queries relating to invoices and payments
Liaising with internal departments to resolve outstanding AP issues
Processing invoices across different business entities and currencies
Supporting Accounts Payable activities as part of the month-end process
Maintaining accurate supplier and invoice records
Supporting improvements to AP processes and increased automation
Assisting with additional Accounts Payable duties when required

What you'll need to succeed
We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have strong previous Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger experience within a high-volume environment.

Proven Accounts Payable or Purchase Ledger experience
Experience processing large volumes of supplier invoices
Previous work experience within a shared service centre preferred but not essential
A good understanding of the end-to-end invoice process
Strong knowledge of PO and non-PO invoice processing
Experience completing supplier statement reconciliations
Confidence investigating invoice discrepancies and resolving supplier queries
Previous exposure to multi-entity and multi-currency Accounts Payable would be beneficial
Experience working with an ERP finance system
Previous exposure to OCR, invoice scanning or automated AP technology would be advantageous
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately within a busy environment
Good communication and organisational skills
Fluent English, with an additional European language advantageous ie:

- Polish/Dutch/Danish What you'll get in return
£30,000pa
37.5-hour working week, Monday to Friday. Flexible working hours with the ability to start between 7am-10am and finish between 2.30pm-6pm.
