As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a vital role in delivering excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the reception area. You will work closely with clinical and administrative staff to support the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Main duties of the jobKey Responsibilities
- Greeting patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Managing incoming telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries.
- Booking, amending, and cancelling appointments using the practice clinical system.
- Processing prescription requests in line with practice procedures.
- Receiving and distributing incoming correspondence.
- Maintaining confidentiality and compliance with GDPR and NHS policies.
- Supporting administrative tasks as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Registering new patients and ensuring patient records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with practice procedures.
- Undertaking a range of administrative duties to support the efficient running of the practice.
- Working collaboratively with the wider practice team to support the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets.
- Assisting with patient recall processes by sending invitations, booking appointments, and maintaining accurate records of patient contact and outcomes and other recall programmes.
- Supporting clinicians and management with administrative tasks associated with quality improvement initiatives and contractual requirements.
- Contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care through effective communication, teamwork, and proactive administrative support
Wargrave Surgery is a friendly and patient-focused GP surgery providing high-quality primary care services to our local community. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised, and professional Receptionist to join our busy team.
Person Specification- The successful candidate will:
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to remain calm and professional in a busy environment.
- Possess strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Demonstrate good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Have a positive, flexible, and team-oriented approach.
- Be committed to providing outstanding customer service
- Previous experience in a customer service, reception, or administrative role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately and maintain confidentiality.
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Flexible working may be required to cover holidays and sickness
- Previous experience working in a GP practice, NHS setting, or healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of EMIS Web, Docman and other clinical systems.
- Understanding of NHS services and patient pathways.
