Job overview

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for its elective outpatient booking service. The post holder will provide a service to all Trust-wide clinics and will be responsible for managing appointments, handling queries, and maintaining an efficient telephone service.

Main duties of the job
  • Ensure all patient appointments are booked on receipt of referral and triage
  • Assign patients to the correct clinic on first contact
  • Maintain an efficient telephone service for patients and GPs
  • Minimise short‑notice clinic cancellations and optimise clinic capacity
  • Introduce a patient‑focused booking program
Person specification

Candidate must have:

  • Experience working in a high-volume patient/customer contact centre, ideally in an acute hospital environment
  • Knowledge of outpatient clinic protocols and ability to manage appointments using Trust systems
  • Excellent customer service skills
