The Materials Administrator position at Coate offers a salary between £25,000 and £28,000 per annum on a full‑time, permanent contract. Based in Swindon, the role combines office administration with practical workshop duties across a standard Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm (37.5 hours per week). Approximately half the time involves desk‑based tasks, such as processing work orders and managing material requirements;
the remainder supports technicians by picking components, preparing orders and verifying correct allocation for engineering assemblies.
Location:

Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm (37.5 hours per week).
- Processing and administering work orders and material requirements.
- Picking components and parts for engineering assemblies in line with production schedules.
- Cross‑checking picked items against engineering paperwork, work orders and bills of materials to ensure complete accuracy.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to identify the correct components.
- Maintaining accurate records using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Liaising with customers and clients over the phone, providing updates and responding to enquiries in a professional manner.
- Working closely with the workshop team to support production deadlines.
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages or discrepancies.
- Ensuring all documentation is accurate, organised and up to date.
- Supporting the wider team with general administrative duties as required.
- Highly organised, methodical, and possess exceptional attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced engineering environment where accuracy is critical and deadlines are important.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly within Excel.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Strong communication skills with a confident and professional telephone manner.
- Experience with in an engineering, manufacturing, production or technical environment is highly desirable.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a small, close‑knit team.
- Good problem‑solving skills and confidence to take ownership of workload.
- Good level of physical fitness, as the role involves regular movement around the workshop and manual picking of materials and components.
