Location: Dartington

Our client, a highly reputable, family‑run independent service centre based in Gloucester, is seeking a skilled Workshop Manager to lead their busy workshop. This key role is part of a well‑established, multi‑award‑winning business that has delivered quality and exceptional customer service for over 20 years.

  • Standard working hours: 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with a half‑hour lunch break and two tea breaks
Duties
  • Manage a team of 3–4 vehicle technicians, overseeing schedules and allocations
  • Assist in the workshop during a technician’s absence or with complex vehicle issues
  • Monitor workshop workflow and keep customers informed on vehicle progress
  • Source and supply parts efficiently
  • Complete all relevant administrative tasks, including returns, credits, and MOT administration
  • Cover the service reception desk in a service advisor’s absence
  • Review work to be carried out, estimate costs, and price vehicle repairs
  • Perform ad‑hoc duties as required to support workshop operations
Requirements
  • Proven experience managing a busy automotive workshop, ideally including an MOT centre
  • Reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Staverton
  • High technical ability demonstrated through an IMI/NVQ Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or extensive practical experience as a vehicle technician
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team
  • IT literacy and proficiency in relevant workshop management systems
  • Valid UK driving licence with minimal points
