Vehicle Fitter – Electric Vehicles
Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Vehicle Fitter to join their busy manufacturing facility near Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical engineering background combined with automotive electrical experience who enjoys a varied, hands‑on role. You’ll be involved in both the manufacture of new electric vehicles and the maintenance and repair of an established rental fleet.
With vehicles supplied into industries ranging from airports and automotive manufacturing to hospitals, power stations and specialist industrial environments, no two days are necessarily the same.
- Building electric vehicles in accordance with job cards and production specifications
- Mechanical fitting and assembly of vehicle components
- Working with 12V and 48V automotive electrical systems
- Electrical fault finding, diagnosis and repair
- Preparing, servicing and repairing rental fleet vehicles
- Working towards production build targets
- Identifying opportunities to improve build times and product quality
- Participating in ongoing technical and on-the-job training
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Supporting the company's 5S and continuous improvement programmes
- Following all Health & Safety procedures
- A minimum of 2 years' mechanical engineering experience
- A minimum of 2 years' experience working with automotive 12V and/or 48V electrical circuits
- Experience of electrical fault finding, repair and general maintenance
- A background within automotive, vehicle maintenance, manufacturing, aviation, power generation or a similar engineering environment
- Good practical mechanical fitting skills
- The ability to understand and communicate technical issues clearly
- A flexible approach and the ability to prioritise work in a changing production environment
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- A full clean driving licence
- Your own standard hand tools appropriate to the trade
Welding experience would be a distinct advantage but is not essential. Specialist air tools required for the position will be provided. - Above all, we're looking for someone with a positive "can-do" attitude who is happy to roll their sleeves up and get involved.
- OTE £36,000–£48,000
- 39-hour basic working week
