Import Planning Analyst
Salary: up to 34,000 (DoE)

Leeds, hybrid working (2-3 days in office a week)

We are recruiting on behalf of a supply chain and logistics company in Leeds for an Import Planning Analyst.

This role is an on-site implant position, embedded within a large customer and based in a city centre location. You'll play a critical role in ensuring imported General Merchandise flows efficiently through the supply chain, supporting stock availability and the successful launch of key retail events.

About the Role

As an Import Planning Analyst within General Merchandise Supply, you will work closely with both internal teams and external partners to accurately plan and manage import volumes into the distribution network. The role focuses on forecasting, data analysis, stock planning, and cross-functional coordination to ensure optimal stock levels and supply chain performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with supply and central planning teams to understand retail activity plans, including seasonal forecasting
  • Work with depots and national planning teams to forecast inbound and outbound volumes
  • Liaise with hauliers, third-party shipping lines, and freight forwarders
  • Analyse data through daily reporting to ensure forecast accuracy
  • Plan and manage import containers, including decision-making on routing and timing
  • Support stock management and inventory planning
  • Produce weekly detention and demurrage reports, working closely with finance and supply teams
  • Develop, maintain, and improve reporting tools, primarily using Excel

You are highly organised, analytical, and confident communicating with stakeholders across different areas of the business. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working with data to inform decision-making.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to manage changing priorities
  • Proven experience in data analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills (essential)
  • Ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day operational detail
