Procurement Officer

Grade 9 – £39,152 per annum

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service seeks a proactive Procurement Officer with experience in end‑to‑end procurement and a strong understanding of UK procurement legislation. The role supports compliant, effective, and value‑for‑money purchasing across the organisation.

What Will You Be Doing?

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will oversee the organisation’s procurement and contract management functions. You will develop and maintain procurement policies, provide expert advice to stakeholders, oversee tendering and contract negotiations, and implement robust contract‑management frameworks. Your duties will include monitoring procurement activity, analysing markets, maintaining accurate records, supporting audits, and building strong relationships with suppliers and partners to deliver value for money and support organisational goals.

What

Are We Looking For?

Candidates should hold or be working towards a professional procurement qualification (CIPS Level 4 or equivalent). You should have proven experience within a regulated procurement environment and a track record of advising stakeholders on procurement strategy and compliance.
