Risk and Controls Manager (NHH)

Are you experienced in governance, risk, and compliance, with a passion for driving operational excellence? As a Risk and Controls Manager (NHH), you'll play a key role in ensuring effective governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, and business resilience across our Non-Household market activities. Working closely with internal teams, senior stakeholders, and external partners, you'll help protect business performance, strengthen control frameworks, and drive continuous improvement.

You'll be responsible for providing oversight of governance, risk, compliance, and resilience activities across the Non-Household market. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business, you'll ensure effective controls are in place, risks are managed appropriately, and regulatory obligations are met.

• Establish and maintain effective delivery governance, including reporting into key committees.
• Own and maintain the Retail Risk Register, ensuring risks are effectively identified, managed, and escalated.
• Lead reviews of local risk registers and ensure appropriate actions are implemented.
• Contribute to principal risk reporting and dashboards, providing insights and recommendations.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory, contractual, and industry obligations.
• Own and develop Risk and Control Matrices (RACM), ensuring appropriate controls and monitoring are in place.
• Support internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and control assessments, ensuring actions are delivered to completion.
• Embed control operating requirements and provide ongoing oversight of compliance activities.
• Manage Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) and support information governance requirements.
• Develop, maintain, and test Business Continuity Plans to ensure service resilience.
• Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, senior leaders, and external partners.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to strengthen processes, controls, and service performance.

Base location:
Hybrid - Newbridge Square, Swindon

Working pattern:
Full-time, 36 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

• Experience working within governance, risk, compliance, controls, or audit environments.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage people at all levels.
• A naturally curious mindset, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret information, identify risks, and make recommendations.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately within a regulated environment.
• A customer-focused approach, balancing business needs with positive customer outcomes.
• Experience managing risk registers, control frameworks, compliance activities, or governance processes.
• The ability to prioritise workloads effectively and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience working within the water industry or wider utilities sector.
• Experience of business continuity planning and resilience management.
• Knowledge of data protection and information governance requirements.
• Experience supporting regulatory compliance activities within a regulated environment.

• Offering between £43,260 and £54,075 per annum, depending on experience and skills.
• 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 28 with length of service. (plus bank holidays)
