Deputy Care Manager

- Supervise and mentor Senior Support Workers and their teams
- Ensure our children receive the highest level of support
- Support home manager with updates and reports, responsible in Home Manager’s absence
- Promote individuality – not a "one size fits all" approach, for residents and staff
- Monitor staff to provide development & training where required
- Promote a warm, homely environment and ensure all staff adopt this approach
- Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support for residents and staff alike
- Plan and join fun activities like trips to the park, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects

- Minimum of 2 years in a similar role within children's residential care
- Related qualifications: SVQ 4/SQF 9 Social Services (Children and Young People) and HNC in Social Care/Academic equivalent or working towards SVQ 4 Social Services (Children and Young People)
- Manual UK driving licence is essential
- Wide knowledge of the behaviours displayed by children and young people and an understanding of a myriad of intervention strategies
- Knowledge of the Policy and Procedures in relation to residential child care
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
- Working knowledge of legislation in relation to child care including National Care Standards, Children (Scotland) Act 1989, GIRFEC
