Our client, a leading Civil Engineering and Infrastructure specialist, is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Manchester.
Responsibilities of Senior Quantity Surveyor:
- Deliver accurate cost, value, and cash flow reporting to support project and business unit forecasting
- Manage project costs, forecasting, and monthly CVR and commercial reporting
- Prepare and manage applications for payment, cash flow forecasts, and final accounts
- Procure, negotiate, and commercially manage subcontractors and supply chain agreements
- Administer and manage main contracts and subcontracts (including NEC and IChemE forms)
- Lead commercial discussions on variations, claims, and contractual changes
- Identify and realise commercial opportunities while managing and mitigating commercial risk
- Support governance, compliance, and internal commercial reporting requirements
- Work collaboratively with project and delivery teams to achieve commercial and financial targets
- Share best practice and provide commercial support to site teams
Experience Required for Senior Quantity Surveyor:
- Previous experience in the construction industry
- Familiarity with IChemE/ NEC forms of contract and knowledge and understanding of Construction Law
- Previous experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates, and accruals calculations
- Demonstrable experience in monthly forecasting and cost analysis.
- Excellent communication, numeric and computer literacy skills, proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
Desirable:
- Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards
- CSCS card
- HND/degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in estimation
- Experience working for a direct delivery contractor
- An engaging communicator with problem-solving skills
