I'm recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and infrastructure organisation delivering complex power transmission and substation projects across the UK.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Deputy Construction Manager to support the delivery of major National Grid and substation projects nationwide.

The Role

Reporting to the UK Construction Manager, you'll provide leadership across multiple sites, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, to specification, and in line with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support construction activities across multiple UK projects.
  • Lead and mentor Site Managers, Supervisors, and Civil Engineers.
  • Carry out construction audits covering quality, compliance, and management systems.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and provide practical input during project delivery.
  • Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture.
  • Produce site performance reports covering progress, quality, safety, and risks.
  • Support the successful delivery of multiple sites simultaneously.

About You

You will have:

  • Experience in a senior construction management position.
  • Previous experience within National Grid and/or substation environments.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, quality systems, and site management.
  • Knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly to sites across the UK.

Essential Qualifications

  • SMSTS
  • SR163 (or previously held SR163/TP)
  • TWC or TWS
  • Environmental Training
  • National Grid Competent Person
