The role will involve
As Project Manager you’ll take ownership of the safe, commercial and successful delivery of AMP’s industrial heat and decarbonisation projects. Managing projects from pre-construction and procurement through construction, commissioning and handover, you’ll bring together customers, contractors, consultants and our internal teams to turn project plans into successful operational solutions.
This is a hands‑on delivery role where you’ll have real ownership of programme, cost, quality and risk, while building strong relationships with our customers and ensuring projects are delivered safely and to a high standard.
- Taking day‑to‑day ownership of projects through pre‑construction, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
- Managing engineering, construction and specialist contractors to deliver safely against agreed programme, budget and quality requirements.
- Managing project commercial performance, including cost forecasting, change control, payment applications, variations and final accounts.
- Administering engineering and construction contracts and ensuring contractual requirements are effectively managed throughout delivery.
- Developing and maintaining project programmes, risk registers, cost plans, cashflow forecasts and clear project reporting.
- Acting as a key point of contact for customers and stakeholders, building strong relationships and maintaining clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinating internal engineering teams, external consultants and suppliers, while identifying and managing project risks and opportunities.
- Ensuring projects meet AMP’s HSEQ standards and relevant requirements, including CDM Regulations, planning conditions and environmental permits.
We are looking for an experienced and commercially aware Project Manager who is comfortable taking ownership and bringing together the different technical, commercial and operational elements needed to deliver a successful project with the following skills and experience:
Skills- At least two years’ experience managing engineering, construction or infrastructure projects, with experience managing contractors, consultants and suppliers.
- Strong commercial management skills, including cost forecasting, budget management and change control.
- Experience of contract administration, ideally involving NEC, MF/1, IChemE or similar engineering and construction contracts.
- Strong programme management skills and experience using MS Project or equivalent.
- Experience supporting procurement, tendering and contractor evaluation.
- A good understanding of CDM Regulations and construction HSEQ requirements, with experience working within a structured project delivery environment.
- Excellent customer and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to communicate, negotiate and build effective relationships at all levels.
