This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, practical, and self-motivated individual to join the Collections Team at Brighton & Hove Museums. This specialist team is tasked with managing and interpretating nationally and internationally important collections.

The Graduate Collections Intern (World Cultures) is a funded internship for an emerging museum professional to develop their skills, knowledge and professional experience through work-based learning, with a focus on the designated World Cultures collections.

The successful candidate for the role will contribute to the care and management of the Brighton & Hove Museums collections and will include an opportunity to share their learning through a collections focussed engagement project. Your work programme will focus on work to improve the storage and documentation of the World Cultures collections, as well as working on Brighton & Hove Museum’s collections management software to decolonise catalogue records.

Working closely with the World Cultures team you will assist with collections care and information management tasks, including object condition checking, storage improvements, processing digital images, and updating collections database records. Brighton & Hove Museums will provide all the necessary training required to carry out the role.

This internship particularly welcomes students on bursaries or low-incomes and/or from other minority genders and BIPOC backgrounds to support a wider range of people entering the museums and heritage sector.

If you would like to have an informal discussion regarding this role, please contact Portia Tremlett, Curator (World Cultures) at
