Location: Easingwold

Colour Heroes are a family-owned, independent children’s book publisher, creating tailor-made, highly engaging, hand-illustrated books, site maps and activity resources for families. We have a UK-wide portfolio, including national museums, farm attractions, leisure sites, hotels, charities, and the National Trust.

We have a unique opportunity for a talented, conscientious commercial illustrator/designer to join our team. The successful candidate will have at least two years proven track record of creating illustrations and artwork ready for print, ideally designed for children and young adults.

There are lots of opportunities for the successful candidate to develop new styles and put their own stamp on each prestigious piece of work. Your key role in the team will be to maintain a high standard of work at all times, ensuring every project, large and small, receives the utmost care and attention to detail. Brand story and visual language is paramount in each project.

This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday as part of our small, friendly team.

Please note that this is an office-based position, you must be able to commute to our Easingwold based offices every day. Easingwold is located 12 miles north of York.

The salary is negotiable and will depend on your experience.

Person Specification

It is important that the successful candidate can demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum 2 years proven industry experience, ideally working as a commercial illustrator/designer creating print ready artwork files.
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe creative suite is desirable.
  • Skilled in creating unique and engaging characters, activities and puzzles for children.
  • Ideally educated to degree level.
  • A collaborative and co-operative approach.
  • Must be able to work on own initiative, as well as part of a dynamic team.
  • High levels of attention to detail and an ability to focus in an open-plan office environment.
  • Applicants must be able to provide a recent portfolio of their work.
