About the Role

Are you looking to start a rewarding career in housing and make a real difference in your community? We have an exciting opportunity for a Housing Trainee to join our Housing Services team. This is a developmental role designed to give you hands‑on experience across a range of housing functions while working towards a recognised qualification. You’ll gain practical experience in key areas such as tenancy management, lettings, income management, home ownership, and new tenancy support — building valuable skills and knowledge to launch your career in the housing sector.

We would also consider this role as an apprenticeship opportunity; where this is the case, salary and contract length will be aligned to the relevant apprenticeship qualification and pay rate.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Housing Trainee, you will:

  • Complete placements across different Housing teams, including:
    • Home Ownership & Leasehold
    • Lettings
    • Localities
    • Income Management
    • New Tenancy Support / Money Advice
  • Customer enquiries and communications
  • Tenancy & business administration and sign‑ups
  • Accompanied visits and basic casework
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records and systems
  • Get involved in customer engagement activities, events, and surveys
  • Work closely with mentors and colleagues to develop your skills
  • Complete training, coursework, and assessments as part of your apprenticeship
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated, and keen to learn.

You’ll need to have:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • An interest in housing, communities, and customer service
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn

Some experience working with the public (paid or voluntary) is beneficial but not essential.

What You’ll Gain
  • A structured training programme across Housing Services
  • A recognised housing qualification
  • Valuable, real‑world experience
  • Ongoing support, mentoring, and development
  • The opportunity to build a long‑term career in housing
