About the RoleAre you looking to start a rewarding career in housing and make a real difference in your community? We have an exciting opportunity for a Housing Trainee to join our Housing Services team. This is a developmental role designed to give you hands‑on experience across a range of housing functions while working towards a recognised qualification. You’ll gain practical experience in key areas such as tenancy management, lettings, income management, home ownership, and new tenancy support — building valuable skills and knowledge to launch your career in the housing sector.
We would also consider this role as an apprenticeship opportunity; where this is the case, salary and contract length will be aligned to the relevant apprenticeship qualification and pay rate.
What You’ll Be DoingAs a Housing Trainee, you will:
- Complete placements across different Housing teams, including:
- Home Ownership & Leasehold
- Lettings
- Localities
- Income Management
- New Tenancy Support / Money Advice
- Customer enquiries and communications
- Tenancy & business administration and sign‑ups
- Accompanied visits and basic casework
- Assist with maintaining accurate records and systems
- Get involved in customer engagement activities, events, and surveys
- Work closely with mentors and colleagues to develop your skills
- Complete training, coursework, and assessments as part of your apprenticeship
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated, and keen to learn.
You’ll need to have:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- An interest in housing, communities, and customer service
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
Some experience working with the public (paid or voluntary) is beneficial but not essential.
