Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced, resourceful dental technician to join our busy conservation Technology Department providing technical services to our clinical team. This senior position requires significant post qualification experience in crown & bridge work. Applicants will need an entry level qualification acceptable to the GDC for registration as a Dental Technician plus a post graduate level qualification in Conservation Technology.
Current registration with the GDC is essential.
Applicants will also need to demonstrate a high level of manual dexterity, specialised knowledge of Restorative Dental Technical procedures, communication skills and a commitment to quality. This post will also require a broad range of experience in both conventional techniques and digital production methods, hence a keen interest in computer technology / working knowledge of dental design software would be advantageous
Why you should join our Team
Leeds Dental Institute is a dental teaching hospital providing training for dentists and all DCP groups including Dental Technicians. Our in-house Dental Production Laboratory employs 27 staff including 23 GDC registered Dental Technicians to provide laboratory services for around 400 undergraduate and post graduate dental students in addition to many clinical staff of all grades and disciplines.
As an on-site service within a teaching environment, our technical staff routinely interact and liaise directly with clinical staff and students, providing opportunities to work and learn together and build a great team-working experience
What you will bring to the role
The post holder will be expected to produce a broad range of temporary and permanent dental crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays, which will include some implant retained units. The restorations may be manufactured using metals, ceramics, composites, zirconia and acrylic polymers and using both conventional, and in-house design for digital production methods.
You can also expect some routine work such as study models, Denar articulations, diagnostic wax-ups, memosil indexes, radiographic stents, splint dentures, bite-raising appliances etc.
